Wildlife artwork
After spending a decade painting and drawing pet portraits, I’m so pleased to be offering wildlife artwork as well. We have many incredible species on this planet, and capturing their beauty and vitality is something I find truly rewarding.
I love working in series — creating pieces that complement each other while standing strong on their own. I currently have two series underway:
My native Aotearoa New Zealand charcoal bird series - Beneath the Feathers.
A charcoal study of three native New Zealand birds and the contrasting qualities that define them. I chose these images for what they reveal to me. The ruru is both soft and intense, the kererū both untidy and beautiful, and the kākā both mischievous and thoughtful (he kākā is currently in progress). Together, these works explore how seemingly opposing traits can coexist, creating the unique character and presence of each bird. Each reference had a natural honesty that drew me in and felt true to them.
Working in charcoal allows me to focus on tone and subtle detail, capturing both the presence and character of each bird. The ruru and kererū are complete, with the kākā currently in progress.
Oil painting big cat series - Where Power Rests.
Who doesn’t love big cats! Where Power Rests explores the quiet strength of these animals — moments where intensity softens and power is held rather than shown.
Painting in oils lets me build depth over multiple layers, with subtle tones emerging to bring each piece to life. These quiet moments often reveal the most about an animal, capturing a sense of strength, presence, and character.
The panther is complete, I have a beautiful Sumatran tiger and Amur leopard reference ready to begin — it’s shaping up to be a stunning collection.
There’s plenty more in the pipeline too, including a Kaimanawa horse duo, watch this space!.
Below are the artworks I currently have available, please click on the individual images for more information about each piece.
